H is for Henna

This is my first foray into the world of cropped sweaters!

I played with a few silhouettes before deciding on these amazing vintage high-waisted pants! They're made of a lightweight crepe-y fabric, so I had to wear leggings underneath! To keep the look streamlined and to emphasize the rich henna colour of the sweater, I wore a black camisole under it. I wore my plaid wool cropped jacket to emphasize the "waist" area!

I also wore my black vest and skinny black patent belt, and a silk lace scarf as a tie. I needed something to balance out the sweater, which happens to make my boobs look huge ;) Disclaimer: "Objects in sweater may be smaller than they appear!"

I am so in love with this cut of pant! Everyone should try them, they're way more flattering than one might expect! Frenchy's and thrift stores are great places to look. Don't get discouraged, only one in probably about ten pairs "hang" correctly! Another tip when looking for pants like these is to try ones larger than your normal size. These ones are two sizes larger than my usual size, but they fit just how I want them to! I also cuff them. They're the right length, but I find they look better with a bit of ankle showing to remind everyone that you are not an elephant.

I also wore my crazy rocker heels: 6 inches of studded platform sandal goodness! Unfortunately it was too snowy to wear them all day, but they're surprisingly comfortable. And they having hiking-boot-y grip on the bottom!

As you can see in the photos, it's snowing again! It seems to be snowing more often than not this month. I heard on the radio today that we're centimeters from beating the record for snowfall in February here in Atlantic Canada, and it's only the 8th of the month!

Rose-coloured glasses were a must-wear again today. Blinding white snow and grumpiness are never a good combination! I've been feeling on the verge of a cold for days now, but it hasn't fully set in yet... I'm just sniffly and boogery and balloon-heady, minus the complete exhaustion and body aches. Yay?

I'm loving the androgynous feel of this look! I can't wait to style this sweater and pants in new ways :D

Ooh, I have super-exciting news. I got my new passport in the other day, so I will definitely be able to go to New York during Reading Week!! And, even though my university may go on strike (:S), if they do it won't be 'til after Reading Week, so the trip will still be on! Yessss.

Happy dressing!
