For Christmas, Billy gave me Tim Gunn's two books: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style, and Gunn's Golden Rules. Both are awesome and you need to read them. In the first, he talks about style icons, including Katharine Hepburn. Part of her "look" included trousers and turtlenecks. I got these amazing wool pants at Frenchy's. I've been on the lookout for pants like these, and so far have three pairs. Ones that look good are really hard to find though! I must have tried on 20 pairs before I found two that looked "right!"
To keep the look simple and classic, I wore my vintage cashmere turtleneck (a hand-me-down from my mom!), my red snakeskin belt, and my cream-and-black plaid jacket, topped with my black beret and black quilted ballet flats!
I'm starting to get really swamped with schoolwork. Booo! I'm hoping to be able to keep up with my blog and Chictopia page, but if I'm absent for a couple of days you'll know why! I have tons of looks still to upload... one thing I never do is take a day off from putting effort into my outfits. That's like giving in to the pressures of everyday life! Pajamas have their place, and that's in your house. After coffee, then it's clothing time! Haha.
As for the title of this post (a Katharine Hepburn quote), it's something of a "life lesson" that I try my best to adhere to. Sometimes I still complain (who doesn't?), but I try to almost never explain myself. I heard a similar quote once that goes, "never explain yourself: your friends don't need it an your enemies don't care," or something like that. Great words to live by!
Happy dressing!

What a cute outfit! I love the highwaisted slacks with that red skinny belt for a pop! Very 40's starlet casual.
