Treehouse

Summer always makes me feel nostalgic, especially during lazy afternoons spent in my bedroom at my parents' house. A previous owner finished the attic to look like a treehouse, and he used the space as a workshop for his model trains. The room really does look like a treehouse, all finished in wood with big windows out of which you can see the tops of the trees! It's a very special room, And I have so many great memories of time spent up there.

The attic became my bedroom when I was fifteen, after my friends and I started having sleepovers up there. My parents suggested it, and I was thrilled as I had never considered it to be a possibility! It made for a very cool bedroom, with the slanted ceilings and the floor pillows my mom made for "hanging out." There was all kinds of space for people to sleep over, and on any given weekend I had at least four people staying the night!

When I returned to my hometown to attend university (after a couple of years at another school), the attic became mine again -- this time to be shared with Billy! We've really made it our own, and I'm sure we've benefitted from the energy of such a cool space. I'm going to miss it when we move out :) I'm going to do a post soon with pictures of the room, something I've been meaning to do for ages!

On to the outfit! This was an outfit that came together when the pale green blouse and the mosaic-printed tennis skirt were hanging next to each other. They looked so great that I had to combine them! I chose all-black accent pieces, opting for some print-mixing with my striped tights and patent belt, and my black cardigan.

I wore my patent crossover heels, and my multistrand pearl necklace, which unfortunately I didn't get a picture of! D'oh ;)

In other fun news, I've just recently discovered style.com... ohhhhh my goodness. I've been working through the Fall ready-to-wear collections, and I'm so excited!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and happy belated Canada Day to my country-bloggers! Happy 4th of July (tomorrow) to my American friends tomorrow too :D

  2. I LOVE that outfit!! It is simple and perfect!! If I don't see it right away, notify me when you show pictures of your treehouse (I mean room) because I am very curious :D

I also feel nostalgic when it's summer, hated it today since I got sad and all... (where is my other half, I really need him in times like these)

Have a great day!! (still think it is stupid that we weren't in NYC at the same time :D)

  3. I love gray and green together -- it's one of my favorite combinations. And the print on the skirt is so cool! I would love to see photos of this amazing treehouse room that you've described.

  4. The striped legs and shoes and stunning, but don't distract or detract from the spleandor of the blouse and skirt. Great combo! That skirt is a sweet find too!
